Gangtok soirée for Tashi YangchenGangtok, Sikkim, 30 November 2004
Reception
The children were as small as 4 years of age. I was totally smitten by their performance. They were awesome. I was the guest of honour and had to give a speech. I shared my whole Dharamsala experience and everything about the Miss Tibet pageant. I also spoke about the importance of "Integrity in humanity". It was surely a great experience for me for being honoured in such a fashion.
On 11 November, I had the opportunity to take 80 orphanage children and 200 Thumay SamBoda School children for a movie. We watched "Harry Potter 2" at Vajra Hall, courtesy of Pema Ladakhi, the owner of the cinema. I was so happy that I got a chance to offer snacks and drinks (soft of course) to all the children. I did not do all these as a MISS TIBET but in the name of humanity — as a caring person. The treat for the children was on Children's day — 14 November. While I interacted with these kids after the movie I had a smile all along as I could see their genuine appreciation and was so touched by their innocence.
Balniketan
We cut a cake together which I bought from Baker's Café. I was successful in asking some help from my generous friends for a little party. Hotel Hungry Jack readily helped me with the food. Little Italy food joint donated Rs 2,000. Square Restaurant donated Rs 1,500. Fusion Restaurant donated Rs 500. NEDFI donated Rs 500, and Oswal Photo shop donated Rs 500. I added a little from my own fund for the party. It was a great moment of joy for the kids as well as for me as I really got to interact with the children. I gave a little talk as well. |
